I recently made these little matchbook treat holders for my guests who attended a Christmas stamp-a-stack event. What better than a Ghiradelli dark chocolate, caramel, and sea salt candy to get you through 15 cards! Yum!
I saw this idea on Dawn Griffith's site, Dawn's Stamping Thoughts, last year. I thought it was so cute and it's really easy to make. You can make 4 at a time, which really speeds up the process. I used 1" squares cut from the Painted Autumn Designer Series Paper (DSP) and Pumpkin Pie cardstock. The pumpkin is even cut from the DSP. The sentiment is from the Thoughtful Banners stamp set and punched with the 1-3/8" Circle Punch. I added a heart from the Regals Enamel Shapes.
I made the Christmas matchbook using Cherry Cobbler cardstock and pieces from the Be Merry Designer Series Paper. It's also a great way to use up some of those leftover scraps.
Here are the measurements if you want to make just one matchbook:
- Cut one piece of cardstock 2-3/4" x 7-3/8" and score it at 3", 3-1/2", and 6-3/4"
- Cut a second piece of cardstock 2-3/8" x 5-3/4" and score it at 2-1/4", 2-1/2", 2-3/4", 5", 5-1/4", 5-1/2"
- Cut four 1" squares of coordinating Designer Series Paper (DSP) and one 1/2" x 2-3/4" coordinating DSP
- Decorate the center as desired
To cut four at a time:
- Cut one piece of cardstock on the 8-1/2" side at 7-3/8"
- Score across the 7-3/8" side at 3", 3-1/2", and 6-3/4"
- Cut into 2-3/4" inch strips
- Cut a second piece of cardstock on the 8-1/2" side at 5-3/4"
- Score across the 5-3/4" side at 2-1/4", 2-1/2", 2-3/4", 5", 5-1/4", and 5-1/2"
- Cut into 2-3/8" strips
You will have some scrap left over from the second piece.
