Thank you for stopping by my blog, Stamping the Cape, as part of the June RemARKably Creative Blog Tour. With the new 2017-2018 Stampin' Up! Annual catalog going live on June 1, this month's theme is "Anything New". There are so many "new" products, we just had to do it again!
You may just be starting the blog tour here at my blog - StampingtheCape.com - or you may have come from Jen Tribue's blog. If you get off track at any time, come back to my blog, StampingtheCape.com, and the full lineup below will help you move along from blog-to-blog so you can see all the projects. Enjoy!
You may have noticed my logo is a mermaid, is it any wonder the Magical Mermaid stamp set would be the one I'd feature?
My first idea for this set was to create a little frame for my desk. I started with watercolor paper and stamped the images in Archival Basic Black ink. Using an Aqua Painter, I colored her body with the new In Color Powder Pink, the scales are a combination of another In Color Lemon Lime Twist and Pool Party, the tail is Lemon Lime Twist and Bermuda Bay.
Her hair was done with So Saffron and Crushed Curry. The plants were colored with the new In Color Tranquil Tide and Always Artichoke, the sand was first stamped with Sahara Sand then washed over with the same color and the background blue is Soft Sky. I cut a frame from Crumb Cake cardstock then used one of the new Wood Textures Designer Series Paper Stack pieces to frame the whole thing. I glued it onto a piece of cardboard that comes with some of our paper packs and created an easel on the back.
I used some Wink of Stella to give the scales a little shimmer.
For my second project I thought I'd have a little fun and have my mermaid disappearing after being spotted swimming off shore. The background is the Softly Falling Textured Impression Embossing Folder and the color here is Bermuda Bay. I used the Watercolor Pencils and Blender Pens to color the tail on this one. A bit of Gold Metallic Thread creates more "magic" for this card.
The color theme for this card focuses on Berry Burst, a new In Color, but the tail was colored with Watercolor Pencils using a combo of Melon Mambo and Rich Razzleberry. They coordinate perfectly! I used a light hand for the skin using Calypso Coral and Early Espresso. The hair was done with Daffodil Delight and Early Espresso. Remember when using Watercolor Pencils or using ink to watercolor - start with a light hand for your color. You can always darken it but it's extremely difficult, if not impossible, to lighten a color.
I decided these cute little thank you notes would be great to tuck into my customer orders. They're made using all the new In Colors - Powder Pink, Fresh Fig, Berry Burst, Lemon Lime Twist, and Tranquil Tide. The background for each card was stamped in VersaMark ink using the small mermaid stamp and the chair was made using the Seasonal Layers Thinlits dies. A refreshing glass of lemonade or your favorite cocktail and you're set for summer.
My final project is a little 3" x 6" Gusseted Cello treat bag filled with custom colored M&Ms I ordered for my business anniversary celebration. I printed out my logo and attached it to a tag made with the Label Me Pretty bundle. I stamped the sea plants with Crushed Curry on a piece of Whisper White and attached it all to Pacific Point. The pennants were punched using the Banner Triple punch.

Kristina, I love that expression!

A great selection of cards. The colouring on the mermaid cards is beautiful. I love how you have used the small mermaid as a background for the die cut chairs.
