Throwback Thursday - Stylin Girl Spins Anew

Another month has flown by and so has another year! My beautiful granddaughter will turn two on Sunday! December's Throwback Thursday is dedicated to her but this card doesn't do her any justice because she has the most beautiful strawberry blond/reddish hair and bright blue eyes!

The Stylin Girl stamp set was retired I believe in 2014, a year before my granddaughter was born. I'm not even sure I knew I was going to be a grandmother when I purchased it but my niece had already had a little girl and more babies were on the way so I purchased it thinking I would make use of it over time and here it is! There are now 3 little girls in the family so I'm sure she'll make an appearance again!

I've used Bermuda Bay as the accent color and a piece of Designer Series Paper from the Whole Lot of Lovely package. It's a spinner card and in order to get the correct side opening and the layering frame I combined one of our retired oval framelits with the largest oval from the current Layering Oval Framelit Dies. To create the reverse side I stamped the image on the plastic sheet that comes with the Stamp-a-ma-jig (SAMJ) then applied it to Whisper White cardstock and rubbed it really well to make sure all the ink transferred. You could use Window Sheet to do this but my SAMJ sheet was handy. It wasn't perfect so after I had colored the two images with the Stampin' Blends I used my Basic Black Stampin' Write Marker to go over some of the outlines.

FiB-Da72017Back I wanted the back of her head to just be her hair so once I cut out the reverse body, I traced just the head outline, colored it in and added some details with the Basic Black Stampin' Write Marker. I cut it out and attached over the reverse face. I added Clear Wink of Stella to her crown along with some Rhinestone Basic Jewels.

I'm pretty pleased with how the whole thing turned out. I think she'll have fun making it spin since she loves books that are interactive.

Throwback Thursday - Festive Flurry Meets Year of Cheer SDSP & Merry Little Labels

Whew! That's quite a blog post title but it's everything this card has and more. Another first Thursday of the month has come upon us and this is a Throwback Thursday project in a couple of ways.

When I saw the snowflake patterns on the gorgeous Year of Cheer Specialty Designer Series Paper (SDSP) I thought back to 2014 and the Festive Flurry Bundle. Do you remember those beautiful snowflake stamps with coordinating framelits? Well here's the largest snowflake framelit with a gold emboss sentiment from the Merry Little Labels Bundle.

It's all Burl Ives' Silver and Gold on this card. The SDSP has silver and gold snowflakes, another piece of the SDSP is silver and gold plaid, the large Festive Flurry snowflake is cut from Silver Foil, the Merry Little Labels sentiment is heat embossed with gold Stampin' Emboss Powder and behind the sentiment is our Mini Sequin Trim in silver and our Metallic Thread in gold. Oh yes and don't forget the Metallic Enamel Shapes in silver and gold.

Dig through your stash and find this retired bundle, match it up with the Year of Cheer SDSP and see what you can come up with.

Throwback Thursday - Smitten Mitten Wrapped in Warmth

Another month has flown by and it's time once again for Throwback Thursday where I mash up retired products with current products. This month it's the Wrapped in Warmth stamp set from the 2016 Holiday Catalog and Smitten Mittens and the Quilted Christmas 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper.

I started by stamping the mitten outline and cuff lines from Smitten Mittens in Real Red and Garden Green. I added the knitted details from the Wrapped in Warmth stamp set.

The sentiment is from Wrapped in Warmth and was first stamped on Whisper White cardstock in Garden Green Classic Ink then die cut with the largest oval from the Stitched Shaped Framelits. I stamped the sentiment again on another piece of paper in Real Red, cut around the word Christmas and placed it on the sentiment with Mini Stampin' Dimensionals. I cut the coordinating scalloped circle from the Layering Ovals Framelits and attached it to the back of the sentiment.

I stamped the small mittens from Smitten Mittens in Real Red - The first one is stamped off and the second is direct to paper overlapping each other. I hand cut them and added them to the top corner of the sentiment, which was attached with SNAIL Adhesive.

The background paper is a piece from the Quilted Christmas DSP.
