Stamping the Cape: Occasions & SAB 2018

It's Stamp Club time again and this month I'm letting my club members give the new Brusho Crystal Colour a try. What's Brusho? Well first, it's located on page 26 of the Occasions Catalog. There is a stamp set featured there but I've pulled some out of my own stash to use.

Brusho Crystal Colour is basically a watercolor ink crystal that when combined with water creates some amazing designs. No two results are ever the same. I'm using Watercolor Paper. I also tried it with our Glossy White Cardstock but I prefer the Watercolor Paper. For me, I found it worked best when I first wet the paper with a Stampin' Spritzer covering the paper first with a light coating of water. If it's not quite wet enough I'll use an Aqua Painter to even it out. I try not to create any puddles of water. This is just my preference after playing with it for a while.

For this card I used Prussian Blue and Yellow. The yellow has hints of orange, which is one of the things that makes this product interesting. I've stamped everything directly onto the dry background with Archival Basic Black Ink. The butterfly is from the Watercolor Wings stamp set and the sentiments are from the Sale-A-Bration stamp set Amazing You that is FREE when you purchase $50 in Stampin' Up! products.

This is a similar card but as you can see, I couldn't get the background exactly the same even if I tried. I'm using the same stamp sets but this time I've added the amazing die cut, which is also a Sale-A-Bration product and part of the Celebrate You Thinlits Dies that's FREE with a $100 product purchase. Words included are amazing, YOU, and celebrate.

For this background I've used Brilliant Red and Yellow but not before heat embossing in white the solid butterfly background from the Watercolor Wings stamp set. This is what's called a resist technique as the heated embossing powder will only take on color where there are tiny porous openings.

This last sample uses Moss Green for the background which has some purple flecks in it. Perfect for a rock star background. The guitar and sentiment is another example of a FREE Sale-A-Bration stamp set - Epic Celebrations. I stamped the guitar using Archival Basic Black ink onto a piece of paper from our Wood Textures Designer Series Paper Stack and stamped the guitar again on Crumb Cake cardstock.

FebSC2018Brush2Close I covered the wood grain image with VersaMark Ink and heat embossed it with Clear Stampin' Emboss Powder to give the guitar body a bit of shine. I wanted to bring back those old classic rock 'n roll electric guitars. I cut the body out and the whole neck piece and attached the neck on top of the body.

More January Stamp Club 2018 & Blog Candy

The 🎶 weather outside isn't frightful and temperature is getting delightful 🎶 and the ice may just disappear, 🎶 let it clear, let it clear, let it clear 🎶 .

Yes, even though I had to cancel this week's stamp clubs, it's looking promising that the ice in my driveway may melt so I can hold clubs next week. This is the second of my three projects this month.

Again I'm featuring the Painted with Love Specialty Designer Series Paper (SDSP) and the Sure Do Love You stamp set but I've also brought in the Sunshine Wishes Thinlits for the "string" heart and "love", the mini hearts are from the Everyday Jars Framelits but you could substitute the Brights Enamel Shapes for those and last but not least the "YOU" is from the Celebrate You Thinlits, one of the FREE Sale-A-Bration selections when you purchase $100 in Stampin' Up! product.

You might be thinking "Wait, that sentiment is different from the one in the Sure Do Love You stamp set." Actually it's the banner sentiment but I've doctored it up a bit and I'll show you how I did it. You can also go over to my Lots of Love Box post to see how I made those projects.

This is the final project. It's a simple but sweet little card which again features the Painted with Love SDSP and the Sure Do Love You Bundle but it also introduces another FREE Sale-A-Bration product Party Pandas. These cute little pandas are FREE with a $50 Stampin' Up! product purchase. I think they're going to be as popular as last year's Hey, Chick stamp set!

Sale-A-Bration 2018 Blog Hop - Bubbles & Fizz DSP

Thank you for joining me on my first blog hop of 2018! Today's hop features products from Sale-A-Bration. My entry features the FREE Sale-A-Bration Bubbles & Fizz Designer Series Paper (DSP). The paper coordinates with the Bubble Over Bundle from the 2018 Occasions Catalog.

I started my project with an 8-1/2" x 5-1/2" piece of Bermuda Bay cardstock scored at 4-1/4". I layered a 4-1/8" x 5-3/8" piece of Lemon Lime Twist cardstock and on top of that is a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of the Bubbles & Fizz DSP. I added the largest oval from the Layering Oval Framelits dies in Bermuda Bay.

SABBlobHop1-3-18Close The Bottles & Bubbles Framelits dies coordinate with some of the images on the DSP. I die cut the bottle of soda - pop or tonic, depending upon region ;0) - from another piece of the DSP. I covered the bottle portion with the Fine Tip Glue Pen to give it some dimension and shine. It is important to set this aside on a flat surface for quite a while so it will dry completely. Once it was dry I cut another bottle label from a portion of the same DSP and layered it onto the bottle with Stampin' Dimensionals. The bottle cap was die cut from a small piece of Silver Foil. I popped the entire bottle up on Stampin' Dimensionals. The "bubbles" in Bermuda Bay, Calypso Coral, and Lemon Lime Twist cardstock were cut using another die from the set. I popped some of the bubbles up with the Mini Stampin' Dimensionals and some I left flat to create even more dimension.

The sentiment was stamped on Whisper White cardstock in Bermuda Bay Classic Ink then cut up and attached with Mini Stampin' Dimensionals.

EUREKA MOMENT!

When I opened the package of Bottles & Bubbles Framelits dies for the first time, I looked at the images and immediately the two straw dies that are included in the set made me think of this:

Hockey sticks! Having been a hockey mom for many years, right off I saw sticks; particularly because the straws have little grid marks at the bending point that reminded me of the texture the tape creates when wrapped around the stick. These are serious flashbacks because even though I spent about 7 years at the ice rink, my son hasn't played hockey for about 20 years!

Bottles1-3-18Close Anyway, I thought this would make a great thank you card for a coach. The thumbs up die from the Framelits make perfect gloves. I did have to pinch the circle from the Paisley Framelits, as it was the only one I could find that was proportionally correct. It's a bit smaller than the 1/2" Circle Punch. The ice is a piece of Soft Sky cardstock cut with the second largest Layering Oval Framelit with a piece of Vellum cardstock on top. The Basic Black ring is the largest Oval Framelit. Don't waste a whole piece of Basic Black cardstock for this. I layered the largest and second largest Layering Oval Framelits together and cut them at the same time. The ring fits around the outside of my "rink" and I can keep the inner Basic Black oval for another project.
