This month my stamp clubs will get a chance to try out the Dragonfly Dreams stamps and coordinating dies. They'll also get a chance to play with the Hey, Chick FREE Sale-a-Bration stamp set and the Hexagons Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.
They call it "Dynamic" because it adds an even more impressive embossing texture than our regular embossing folders. Just look at the detail in those hexagons.
On the bee card, I sponged over the texture to enhance the impression. The top edges of the hexagon are highlighted.
For this card, I actually applied my Smoky Slate ink pad directly onto the inside bottom section of the folder and then ran it through the Big Shot. The ink was embedded into the lines of the folder making it look more like wire. I used the Labeler Alphabet stamp set to make my custom saying on the front.
I've seen lots of different methods to color the dragonfly and glue the black die cut piece to the colored base. Some, although very beautiful, are slightly complicated and more appropriate for a class. I wanted to keep it as simple as possible for club. I chose to stamp the background image in VersaMark and heat emboss with Clear Stampin' Emboss Powder.
I used my Daffodil Delight, Peekaboo Peach, and Calypso Coral Stampin' Write Markers to color the wings. I wiped off the excess ink on the embossed areas and glued the die cut dragonfly to it.
I use the Multipurpose Liquid Glue when attaching pieces like this. If you don't feel comfortable using it and are afraid of getting glue everywhere and making a mess, simply put a small dollop of the glue on a scrap piece of paper and apply the glue with the point of a toothpick. This glue holds so well you only really need tiny pin size dots to make it stick. On a piece like this, I only applied glue to the thickest areas and it holds just fine.
If you live in the Falmouth or Cape Cod area and would like to join one of my stamp clubs, I still have a couple of spots open in an afternoon and an evening club. Your first visit is always free with no commitment so why not give it a try!
Don't forget Sale-a-Bration is still going on. You can earn the Hey, Chick stamp set FREE with a $50 product purchase and also qualify for my Mermaid Rewards.
