Have you ever heard of ? It's a fun plastic sheeting that you can stamp on, color and when heated, shrinks to one third it's size, hardens and becomes nine times thicker.
I decided to play around with it the other day. I had made some wine glass tags with the Frosted Ruff N' Ready Shrinky Dink for a blog hop I did late last summer. You can see that post HERE. I was going to make another set of tags using the Half Full stamp set but started thinking about a bracelet. So I pulled out some jewelry making pieces and this is the result.
Each design was stamped full size using Basic Black Archival Ink on the smooth side of a piece of the Shrinky Dinks. You need to give it plenty of time to dry, as you can't heat it because it will shrink. You can use StazOn ink for this instead, if you have it. On the other side I used my Stampin' Blends to color each of the images. Some I cut out by hand and some I used a die. The glass with ice cubes is actually from the Coffee Cafe stamp set. The Coffee Cups Framelits die I wanted to use didn't have a coordinating cup outline stamp so I used the die and traced the outline with a Sharpie pen. The ice cubes were stamped inside.
If you do this, remember to punch a hole for a jump ring before you shrink them. You can shrink them in a toaster oven or microwave but I like to use my Heat Tool. I put the point of a skewer in the hole I punched to hold them down as I apply the heat. This way I'm assured the hole won't close as it shrinks. Kids would have fun watching them shrivel and twist up then suddenly flatten out.
I can't wait for my granddaughter to be old enough to do this. I can just imagine all the fun things we can make together. The Birthday Delivery and Magical Day bundles would make fun bracelets for a little girl!
