Thank you for joining me on another hop around the world with Stampin' Up! demonstrators from the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, and Australia. This month's theme is Happy Birthday. I have a neighbor that I've known for 35 years and she'll be turning 90 in a few months. I thought I'd get a head start and take this opportunity to make her something special. She always enjoys my cards and I often give her boxes of handmade cards to use. I think she'll get a kick out of this!
For the card, I used five colors - Bermuda Bay, Crushed Curry, Berry Burst, Tempting Turquoise, and Melon Mambo - to randomly stamp the bow and confetti from the Picture Perfect Birthday stamp set on a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Whisper White cardstock. I mounted the stamped image onto a 4-1/8" x 5-3/8" piece of Daffodil Delight cardstock then cut a square out of this unit using the second largest die from the Layering Squares Framelits dies.
Since there wasn't a die big enough for the frame I wanted, I cut a 3-1/2" square from Bermuda Bay cardstock and centered the same die in the center to cut out an opening. I then carefully trimmed 1/8" off all four sides, rounded the corners and attached it to the front opening of the Whisper White piece. On the back of the stamped/Daffodil Delight unit, I attached a piece of Window Sheet to cover the opening. I placed Foam Adhesive Strips on the backside around the window and around the perimeter of the unit. I placed a pile of the Gold Glitter Flakes from the Occasions Catalog on the front of a folded 8-1/2" x 5-1/2" Bermuda Bay cardbase and attached the window unit over it.
Happy Birthday was cut out in Berry Burst using the Happy Birthday Thinlits die trimmed and the numbers and banner were cut using Gold Foil and the Large Numbers Framelits dies. The "th" is from the Number of Years stamp set and was stamped in Archival Basic Black (let it dry or set it with a Heat Tool). All the pieces were popped up with either pieces or full Mini Stampin' Dimensionals.
This party hat was fun to make from a piece of 8-1/2" x 11 Bermuda Bay cardstock using a template I found . I cut out the template and traced it onto the cardstock. After "encouraging" the paper to curl by rolling it a bit, I used Tear & Tape to seal the ends together
I used the same five colors to stamp one set of candles in each design from the Picture Perfect Birthday stamp set. Crushed Curry was used for the flame and before stamping it above each candle I added a highlight to the edge of the stamp using a Pumpkin Pie Stampin' Write Marker and also filled in the center portion of the flame in Pumpkin Pie. The candles were all cut by hand as there isn't a coordinating die set for these stamps. The pompom was made using the Love Mini Tinsel Trim. For the bottom of the hat I ran a single piece of Tear & Tape around the bottom and attached Berry Burst 1/2" Finely Woven Ribbon pleating it as I went around. Using Glue Dots, I added a piece of the gold Mini Tinsel to finish the top of the ribbon.
